Top 5 Favorite TV Kisses

I’m counting down my top 5 favorite TV kisses. Let’s count ’em down!

5. Ross and Rachel — “The One with the Prom Tape,” Friends

While this wasn’t the first time Ross and Rachel kissed, it was the kiss that officially led to them becoming a couple. What makes it so momentous is that, after all these years, Rachel discovers for herself just how strong Ross’ feelings for her were. She learns firsthand that he was planning on stepping up to take her to her senior prom, only for her prom date to show up at the last second, proving to be a crushing moment for the geeky, good-intentioned Ross Geller. It all works out in the end for Ross and Rachel, though, because, as Phoebe Buffay points out, “He’s her lobster.”

4. Eric and Donna — “Pilot,” That ’70s Show

The love between Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti is strong from the very beginning. In the pilot, Donna even tells Eric, “We’ve lived next door to each other forever. You could’ve had me when I was four.” They share a sweet and simple kiss in the final scene of the episode. Donna is the one who initiates the kiss, leaving a confused Eric, not to mention the audience, wondering, “When exactly is next time?”

3. Sheldon and Amy — “The Locomotive Manipulation,” The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler have a unique romance, to put it lightly. Ever since Sheldon asked Amy to be his girlfriend, “with the understanding that nothing changes, physical or otherwise,” their relationship has moved at a glacial pace. Needless to say, when Sheldon finally initiates a kiss with Amy, it is a monumental moment indeed, not just in the evolution of their romance, but for Sheldon’s character and the show in general. Afterward, Amy is left relatively speechless, as she only utters a quiet, “That was nice,” to which the usually verbose Sheldon replies with a shy, “Good.”

2. Jim and Pam — “Casino Night,” The Office

Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly have what’s been called a fairy tale romance. Jim harbors a secret crush on a then-engaged Pam right from the get-go, and as their friendship builds on a foundation of teasing, flirting and messing with Dwight, it becomes clear that Pam has feelings for Jim as well. Jim finally lays his heart on the line when he kisses Pam in “Casino Night,” and though it takes a bit longer after that before they finally get together, the wait is absolutely worth it. After all, they go together like PB+J: Pam Beesly and Jim.

1. Nick and Jess — “Cooler,” New Girl

From the first time they meet, it’s obvious that Nick Miller and Jessica Day have a chemistry unlike any other. With both of them coming out of long-term relationships at the start of the series, Nick and Jess form a tight bond despite the fact that they pretty much never see eye-to-eye on anything. Their constant bickering is what ignites the spark of passion between them, eventually leading to a zealous meeting of the lips. Their relationship has been described as the heart of the show, which only confirms the fact that they are soul mates who will end up together by the time all is said and done.

That concludes my top 5 favorite TV kisses. Have a favorite of your own? Do share.
